Oregon Ducks tight ends prepare for larger roles after injury to starter

EUGENE -- Kano Dillon was coached by Willie Taggart at South Florida and had an opportunity to play under him again, at Florida State.

Yet if the Seminoles offered coaching familiarity for Dillon as a graduate transfer, the Oregon Ducks had something FSU couldn't match: Playing with a potential first-round NFL draft pick in quarterback Justin Herbert.

"Putting the ball on a dime, he's just a great quarterback to put it anywhere it needs to be," Dillon said.

He later added: "I've never played with a quarterback like Herbert. It's a blessing."

The 6-foot-5, 256-pound Dillon could play with Herbert more than ever in the coming weeks after starting tight end Cam McCormick broke a bone in his left leg during Saturday's 58-24 victory over Bowling Green.
