Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt was a ball of energy before practice Friday, meeting with reporters for the first time since his mid-December hiring.
“OK fire away good morning go Ducks,” Leavitt said, with barely a pause between the words.
For nearly four minutes, Leavitt rarely stopped smiling or bouncing on his toes. But when asked about Troy Dye, he got serious — Leavitt thinks Oregon’s leading tackler in 2016 will be a player in his defense, too.
“I want him on the field all the time,” Leavitt said.
One play during Friday’s practice epitomized why.
