Oregon traveled to a surprisingly cool San Diego, CA for a conference match (SDSU is an affiliate member of the Pac-12 in women’s lacrosse) against the Aztecs early Saturday afternoon. The Ducks game out hot, taking an early 3-1 lead then stretching it to 6-2 in the first quarter. Morgan McCarthy led the way with two goals in the first fifteen minutes (she would end the game with a hat trick).
As the game went on SDSU began to dominate on draw controls and were able to take more shots. Though Oregon goalie Cassidy Eckert saved 5 of 11 shots on goal by the Aztecs, at halftime the Ducks’ lead had narrowed to 8-6.
