EUGENE -- Oregon safety Ugochukwu Amadi is among the semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back.
Amadi was among the 14 players announced by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame as semifinalists on Monday.
The senior safety has 31 tackles with two for loss including 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, six pass breakups and seven punts returns for 137 yards, which would lead the country in average per return (19.57) if Amadi qualified statistically.
The other semifinalists are Georgia cornerback DeAnfre Baker, Texas cornerback Kris Boyd, North Texas cornerback Nate Brooks, LSU safety Grant Delpit, UCF safety Richie Grant, Michigan cornerback Lavert Hill, Miami cornerback Michael Jackson, Miami safety Jaquan Johnson, Notre Dame cornerback Julian Love, Penn state cornerback Amani Oruwariye, Washington safety Taylor Rapp, Texas safety Caden Sterns, and LSU cornerback Greedy Williams.
