Powered by a nine-run fourth inning, the No. 3 Oregon Ducks won their opening game in the NCAA softball tournament Friday, beating Illinois-Chicago at Jane Sanders Stadium.
The 13-0 win came by run-rule in five innings.
It is UO's 11th consecutive victory this season and its 22nd straight in the regional round of the NCAA tournament. The Ducks (48-6) next play Wisconsin on Saturday at 2 p.m., after the Badgers beat Missouri earlier Friday.
Freshman right-hander Maggie Balint allowed two hits and a pair of walks in the 85-pitch victory, her 20th this season, while striking out nine.
