LOS ANGELES - As summer of 2016 morphed into Oregon Ducks preseason football camp, Justin Herbert entered his freshman season with tempered expectations.
"I came into Oregon excited, thinking maybe I'll play a down or two my junior and senior year," Herbert said.
Two years later, the Ducks' junior quarterback is in the discussion for the 2018 face of Pacific-12 Conference football. Herbert rolled into Wednesday's Pac-12 media day looking the part, with thick, to-die-for hair, and a 6-foot-6 frame that has added nearly 40 pounds since entering Oregon in 2016.
Herbert is listed on nearly every Heisman Trophy watch list, a candidate to become the first quarterback chosen in the 2019 NFL draft should he leave school early.
