Oregon Ducks In The NFL: Walter Thurmond Retires At 28

Walter Thurmond III became a star at the University of Oregon as a Cornerback. He suffered several injuries during his sports career, including battling through injuries in 2008 and suffering a season ending injury a year later against Cal in 2009. Despite the injuries he made a name for himself at Oregon and had five interceptions in 2008. His carryover into 2009 was strong enough to earn him NFL Draft consideration.

Seattle took a chance on Thurmond in 2010. He broke his fibula in 2011 and finished the season on injured reserve. Thurmond also had key playing time replacing Brandon Browner in 2013 for the first four games of the season.
