Oregon Ducks erupt for 11 runs to beat Arizona State at Women's College World Series

OKLAHOMA CITY -- No. 1 seed Oregon relied on its offense to take Game 1 of the Women's College World Series with an 11-6 win against No. 8 seed Arizona State on Thursday.

The Sun Devils (48-11) got started early, scoring two runs in the top of the first on a two-run homer. Oregon (53-8) responded immediately with a two-RBI single by senior catcher Gwen Svekis.

With the game knotted up at 2-2, Ducks sophomore center fielder Shannon Rhodes singled through the left side of the field to score one. She was followed with a two-RBI triple by freshman designated player Lauren Burke to give Oregon a commanding 5-2 lead.
