EUGENE - The Oregon Ducks stumbled in the glare of the national spotlight Saturday in Autzen Stadium by squandering a big lead and falling in overtime to No. 7 Stanford 38-31.
Stanford quarterback KJ Costello threw a 23-yard TD pass to Colby Parkinson for the winning touchdown on the first overtime possession to stake the Cardinal to a seven-point lead.
The No. 20 Ducks were unable to answer. Stanford cornerback Alameen Murphy intercepted Justin Herbert's fourth-down pass in the end zone to snuff Oregon's hopes.
With 58,453 fans, an ABC television audience looking on and the popular ESPN College GameDay crew looking on, the Ducks coughed up leads of 17 points at halftime and 10 in the final four minutes of regulation.
