EUGENE — No baseball coach wants to be done with his season in late May. But just in case Oregon fell just short of the NCAA tournament, George Horton joked Monday that he had a rough outline for a backup plan.
"I thought I'd be fishing," he said.
He's not in a boat this week. Instead, he and the Ducks are in the 64-team tournament field for the fourth consecutive season. This bid was secured by winning five straight series victories, including the biggest catch of them all — taking two of three against UCLA last weekend in what was the Bruins' lone series loss this season.
