OKLAHOMA CITY -- The third-seeded Oregon Ducks matched their deepest run at the Women's College World Series, but couldn't surpass it.
With a 4-2 loss to defending-champion Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium, the Ducks' season came to a close two wins shy of the championship series.
Oregon took a 2-0 lead on Danica Mercado's two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning, but 10th-seeded Oklahoma's potent lineup exploded for four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
The Ducks couldn't manage a hit the rest of the way against Oklahoma reliever Paige Lowary, concluding their season at 54-8.
