EUGENE - The pace should be quick Sunday for the TrackTown Summer Series men's 1,500 meters at Mount Hood Community College, which is just the way Ben Blankenship likes it.
Blankenship, who trains with Oregon Track Club Elite, is an all-guts, go-for-broke sort of guy.
"I think too many times people are more willing to get a fourth or a fifth than last," Blankenship says. "I would rather be last every time for 100 times to give myself a chance to win once."
It's made for some epic Blankenship gambles. One came in the Bowerman Mile at this year's Prefontaine Classic, when he made a big move with 600 meters to go.
