Former Sports Illustrated writer Jeff Pearlman has a new book out about the USFL, and it includes a very revealing behind-the-scenes look at the Portland Breakers.
The Breakers played one season in Portland in 1985. They finished 6-12, playing at what is now Providence Park. They were coached by Dick Coury, the father of Lake Oswego high school football coach Steve Coury.

In Portland, the Breakers--new to yet another location that, water-wise, kept the nickname appropriate--arrived from New Orleans to be greeted by prostitutes.
