The University of Portland's days as an orphan track & field program appear to be numbered.
If all goes well, the Pilots will have an eight-lane, competition-quality track completed and ready for use late in the fall of 2019.
The new track will part of a campus expansion on a piece of property the school has owned for a decade along the Willamette River, just below the main campus.
The development will include soccer fields suitable for varsity practice and intramurals, a rowing dock and boathouse, a tennis center and a competition-quality, eight-lane track the Pilots can use for training and to host college meets.
