New Orleans Saints safety Jairus Byrd will be searching for a new team for the 2017 season.
Saints head coach Sean Payton confirmed that the former Oregon star will be released when the 2017 season officially begins March 9.
"He's going to have a chance to sign with another team," Payton told saints.com Thursday. "That hasn't been announced officially yet, but that's going to come here in the next, probably, three or four days."
Byrd, 31, has been a major disappointment for the Saints after he signed a six-year, $54 million contract - $28 million guaranteed - in 2014.
