EUGENE -- Oregon's defensive line got bigger Thursday morning.
Under cloudy skies, Malik Young walked into practice for the first time since finalizing his transfer from Eastern Arizona College to Oregon.
"He's a good football player," UO coach Willie Taggart said Thursday morning. "Really athletic to be the size he is and I think the d-line is an area where we needed some depth. It worked out perfect for us."
Young will join the rotation "whenever he's ready to play," Taggart said.
The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Young is a redshirt senior but UO will petition the NCAA for another year of eligibility following the 2017 season, a UO spokesman said.
