Nasty conditions don't slow the Oregon Ducks on first day of Pac-12 track championships

EUGENE - The Oregon Ducks didn't let the cool, wet, occasionally windy conditions slow them down Saturday at Hayward Field.

The Ducks shrugged off the absence of hurdler Sasha Wallace to storm through the first day of the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships.

Oregon picked up first-day victories from a gimpy Damarcus Simpson in the men's long jump, Edward Cheserek in the men's 10,000 meters and freshman Rhesa Foster in the women's long jump before a crowd of 5,002.

Oregon has swept the Pac-12 team titles for the past eight seasons. Then UO men have won 10 consecutive conference championships.
