EUGENE, Ore. – A pair of Ducks lead after the first day of combined events competition, as the Oregon Relays kicked off at Hayward Field, Thursday.
Mitch Modin set a first day lifetime best in the decathlon with 4,100 points through five events, beating the 4,045 points he scored at the NCAA Championships last June. Modin set lifetime bests in four events, beginning with a 10.71 in the 100, though the wind was not legal at 2.2 m/s. The sophomore continued with lifetime bests in the long jump (23-4/7.11, high jump (6-6.75/2.00m) and 400 (49.05).
Modin was going head-to-head with teammate Dakotah Keys who finished third at the NCAA Championships last year but has not competed for the Ducks in a multi-event competition since that meet.
