CORVALLIS - The Oregon Ducks got a big head start on the Pac-12 track & field championships Sunday at Whyte Track & Field Center.
Mitch Modin and Joe Delgado went 1-2 in the 10-event competition in the combined events to give the Ducks 18 team points in the 10-event competition heading into the rest of the conference meet, which starts Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene.
Modin, in second place behind Colorado's Isaiah Oliver after the first five events on Saturday and through the first two events Sunday, took charge in the pole vault by clearing 15 feet, 5 inches.
