Michael Porter Jr. scores 19 points to lead USA past World 98-87 in Nike Hoop Summit

Ownership of the Nike Hoop Summit is back in the hands of the United States.

Team USA won back-to-back Hoop Summits for the first time since 2010-11, as Michael Porter Jr. and Jarred Vanderbilt scored 19 points each Friday night in a 98-87 win over World Selects before a Moda Center crowd of 8,374.

Though USA leads the 20-game series 14-6, there was a four-year period when the World squad was beginning to take over. Starting in 2012, World won three of four games, and though each year’s team is almost always a new roster, the USA took notice.
