The University of Oregon announced the dismissal of head football coach Mark Helfrich on Tuesday after he spent four seasons at the helm of the program.
Aaron Fentress of CSN Northwest first reported the news, and the school later confirmed it.
"We want to thank Mark for his eight years with the University of Oregon and appreciate his efforts on behalf of Oregon football," said Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens. "We wish Mark and his family the best."
Helfrich released a statement as well, via GoDucks.com:
It is a great honor to have served as the head football coach at the University of Oregon.
