Oklahoma rolled into Eugene on April 19 of this year as the two-time defending NCAA championships, riding a 30-game winning streak fueled by the nation's most prolific offense. The Sooners rolled out with their first loss on the road in a year, having been one-hit by UO pitcher Megan Kleist in a 5-0 Oregon victory.
And all of it took place in a front of a sellout crowd in Jane Sanders Stadium, the Ducks' gleaming facility that opened just two years ago.
"I walked into a lion's den," Missy Lombardi recalled of that day, when she was in the midst of her 21st season as Oklahoma's pitching coach.
