EUGENE -- It looks like it will be a wet conclusion to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships today at Hayward Field.
The No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks are positioned to win the women's title. Now they have to follow though.
Winning the title would give the Ducks the first triple crown in NCAA Division I women's track and field history. A triple crown consists of NCAA team championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track in the same academic year.
Sometimes, though, the last step is the hardest.
The Ducks have some heavy hitters poised, among them four-time NCAA champion Raevyn Rogers in the 800, reigning NCAA 100 and 200 champ Ariana Washington, and Deajah Stevens, an Olympic 200 finalist, entered here in both the 100 and 200.
