Late Shot Stifles Ducks’ Upset

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Oregon women’s basketball team led No. 11 Stanford for over 34 minutes, but a lay-up from Lili Thompson with three seconds left proved to be the decider as the Cardinal won, 64-62, Friday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Sharp outside shooting from the Ducks (11-5, 0-5) kept them out in front for nearly the entire game but Stanford (14-3, 4-1) was able to hold Oregon scoreless for over four minutes down the stretch. Then in the final minute, Thompson scored lay-ups on back-to-back drives from the left side of the court.
