EUGENE -- Despite allowing Arizona State to hang around and even giving the Sun Devils the ball back near midfield with a chance to take the lead in the closing minutes, Oregon was able to hang on in spite of itself.
A sack-fumble by La'Mar Winston Jr. that was recovered by Gus Cumberlander with 3:02 to go sealed a 31-29 Oregon win over Arizona State at Autzen Stadium on Saturday.
The Ducks (7-4, 4-4 Pac-12) outplayed the Sun Devils for much of the night, especially in the first half.
Oregon's defense held Arizona State to three field goals in the red zone to help build a 21-6 lead, but the Sun Devils slowly crept back in the game.
