Kansas State gives Bill Snyder new contract, which could delay any departure by UO's Jim Leavitt

Buyout language in Jim Leavitt's contract at Oregon suggests he would one day like to become Kansas State's head coach.

But if that is going to happen, UO's defensive coordinator might have to wait a while.

Kansas State coach Bill Snyder has agreed to a new five-year contract, announced Thursday, that will expire when Snyder is 83.

Since arriving at Oregon in December 2016, Leavitt has retained a clause in his contract that allows him to owe UO nothing should he break his contract to become head coach at KSU, specifically.

There are stiffer penalties should he depart for anywhere else.
