When news broke that Mario Cristobal would become the next head coach of Oregon, there were some that denounced the hire, claiming that it was a short-sited way to appease the current roster and salvage the 2018 recruiting class.
Though we still don’t know how Cristobal’s Duck legacy will develop, it has already become clear that the former National Recruiter of the Year is living up to his reputation- and the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Jonah Tauanu’u inches the new coach towards the best recruiting class in Oregon history.
At 6-foot-5, 317-pounds, Tauanu’u matches the height of Cristobal’s future offensive lineman, but will also be expected to throw on some mass- and yes, I realize how insane that notion sounds, that a 317-pounder needs to gain weight.
