Jakob Goldfarb drove in five runs and Matt Mercer pitched 6 1/3 strong innings to lift the Oregon Ducks baseball team to a season-opening 6-1 win over Loyola Marymount on Friday in Las Vegas.
Goldfarb went 3 for 4, with an RBI double to put the Ducks on the board in the fifth, a three-run homer to right in the sixth and an RBI single in the eighth.
Jonny DeLuca also homered for Oregon (1-0), blasting a solo shot to right in the sixth that gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead.
