EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Sabrina Ionescu has been named to the five-player preseason all-America team, the Associated Press announced on Thursday morning.
Twice a unanimous first-team all-American during her career, Ionescu is joined on the AP preseason squad by Lauren Cox (Baylor), Chennedy Carter (Texas A&M), Kaila Charles (Maryland) and Beatrice Mompremier (Miami).
Ionescu and Cox each received 28 of 28 votes from the national media panel to earn unanimous selections. Oregon senior Ruthy Hebard and junior Satou Sabally also received votes for the preseason all-America team.
Ionescu enters her senior season as the NCAA all-time leader (men's or women's) with 18 career triple-doubles, and she has the chance to become the first player in NCAA history to surpass 2,000-plus career points (1,984), 1,000-plus rebounds (756) and 1,000-plus assists (792).
