In 24 stunning hours, Mike Riley returns to OSU and Mario Cristobal gets the Oregon job

A couple things ...

-- The Oregon Ducks stayed in-house and promoted co-offensive coordinator Mario Cristobal to succeed Willie Taggart as head coach.

Aaron Fentress of NBCNW.com first reported the move. Here is his story, which goes on to say the Ducks are making a push to retain defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt.

Cristobal's promotion accomplishes several things, and makes sense for the following reasons:

1) It allows the Ducks to main continuity and momentum in the wake of Taggart's decision to leave for Florida State.

In Taggart's only season the Ducks improved from 4-8 in the 2016 to 7-5.
