The tributes continue to pour in for University of Oregon distance runner Edward Cheserek, whose collegiate career ended prematurely this week when the Ducks announced he would miss the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships because of a lower back injury.
At the Ducks' team banquet on Sunday, Cheserek received the Bill Bowerman Award for world-class achievement and a collegiate career that included 17 NCAA championships.
I generally try to avoid anointing athletes in any sport as the greatest of all time because I find it difficult to compare across eras for any number of reasons.
