It's been nearly a week since former University of Oregon stars Galen Rupp and Jordan Hasay crushed it in the Chicago Marathon, and the glow still wasn't worn off.
"A dream come true," Rupp said.
Rupp won the men's race in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 20 seconds Sunday to become the Chicago Marathon's first U.S.-born male winner in 35 years.
Hasay, in just the second marathon of her life, was third behind Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba and Kenyan Brigid Kosgei. Hasay's time of 2:20:57 is the second-best ever by a U.S. woman.
Nike Oregon Project coach Alberto Salazar has steered Rupp and Hasay through the transition from running distance races on the track, was both happy and relieved.
