Ra’Shaad Samples has had a meteoric rise during his short coaching career. He spent four years as an assistant to the coaching staff at Houston, Texas, and SMU before being promoted to running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at SMU in 2020. He remained with the Mustangs in 2021 and was set to follow head coach Sonny Dykes to TCU. Instead, he was hired as running backs coach for the LA Rams by Super Bowl champion Sean McVay for the 2022 season. This made him the youngest assistant coach in the NFL at 27. Following a single season in the NFL he took the opportunity to work for Arizona State head coach (and former Oregon offensive coordinator) Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State as wide receivers coach.
