Darren Carrington needed a new team, and Utah needed a playmaker to help its passing game.
Through one game, the match between the ex-Oregon wideout and his former Pac-12 South opponent has paid off for both sides.
Carrington caught a career-high 10 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in Utah's 37-16 season-opening win Thursday against North Dakota.
"You put the ball in the general vicinity, he's going to come away with it," Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Carrington was dismissed in mid-July by UO coach Willie Taggart following an arrest by Eugene police on a DUII charge.
