Philadelphia Eagles running back Byron Marshall has seen his status go from playing on the practice squad to the No. 2 back on the roster in a span of two weeks.
The rookie and former Oregon star will likely play a larger role in the offense Sunday when the Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys in the final regular season game. With season-ending injuries to starter Ryan Mathews, backups Kenjon Barner and Wendall Smallwood, the Eagles are down to two healthy backs, Marshall and Darren Sproles.
Sproles is expected to start, with Marshall as the backup.
