Eugene's Hayward Field has been selected to host the 2020 U.S. Olympic trials for track and field.
The trials will run June 19-28, 2020, USA Track & Field announced Thursday, and will showcase a renovated Hayward Field. The stadium has been torn down and is undergoing a complete rebuild set to be finished in April 2020.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Wednesday that USATF was expected to choose Eugene for the 2020 trials.
Hayward Field also will host the 2021 IAAF World Championships.
"No domestic event is more important to athletes and fans than the Olympic trials," USATF Chairman of the Board Steve Miller said in a statement.
