ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit will be 'very, very surprised' if Willie Taggart doesn't succeed at Florida State

Florida State began the 2017 college football as a highly ranked team to watch and ended it with the program's fewest victories since 2009.

The Seminoles are starting this season more off the national radar. But ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit thinks former Oregon Ducks coach Willie Taggart, now in charge in Tallahassee, could change that quickly.

The 19th-ranked Seminoles open the season Sept. 3 against 20th-ranked Virginia Tech.

"I personally feel that a lot of people have almost forgotten about Florida State this year," Herbstreit said on a conference call with reporters Friday. "There's such an anticipation of Clemson once again and even Miami, that you talk to your average fan on a national level, and people are not expecting much of anything from Florida State.
