LAFAYETTE, La. — For the second straight day, Oregon lost the opener and won the nightcap at the 30th Louisiana Classics at Lamson Park. The No. 6 Ducks started the day off with host No. 7 Louisiana, falling 5-4, before rebounding with an 8-0 thrashing of Central Arkansas in six innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cajuns (7-1) built a quick 5-1 lead to chase reigning Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year Cheridan Hawkins (3-2) after just 2 2/3 innings of work. The Ducks (7-3) gradually climbed back into the game behind stellar relief work from Megan Kleist and timely defense, but were never able to fully solve ULL righty Alex Stewart (5-0).
