EUGENE, Ore. — Down a player for the final 61 minutes against top-ranked UCLA on Thursday, the Oregon soccer team played the Bruins even the rest of the way in a 3-1 defeat before 919 fans at Papé Field.
UO goalkeeper Leah Freemen departed after a red card at the 28:37 mark of the game, and the Bruins converted the ensuing free kick for a 2-0 lead. Playing with 10 women the rest of the way, the Ducks pulled within a goal when Alice Barbieri found the back of the net in the 61st minute.
