Ducks Knock Off No. 30 Virginia Tech 4-1

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Oregon women’s tennis team defeated 30th-ranked Virginia Tech, 4-1, Sunday on the second day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The win was the Ducks’ first over a top-30 opponent since taking down 20th-ranked Washington in 2011.

How It Happened: The Ducks were winners on doubles courts two and three to seal the doubles point and take an early 1-0 lead. Oregon’s Kennan Johnson and Christi Woodson got the Ducks’ first win of the day, taking down Hokies Raluca Mita and Kelly Williford, 6-1, on No. 2. Marlou Kluiving and Shweta Sangwan captured the point for Oregon with a 6-2 victory over Elena Cerezo-Codina and Caroline Daxhelet in the third doubles spot.
