Three years ago as a freshman, Kristen Parr led the Oregon soccer team with seven goals. As a senior this fall, Parr will be trying to prevent them – and yet the Ducks are hopeful their offense can experience an uptick as well.
Parr will be a centerpiece of the rebuilt UO back line when the Ducks open the regular season Friday at Papé Field against Louisiana State (7 p.m., Pac-12 Networks). Third-year coach Kat Mertz could afford to move Parr from forward thanks to the return from injury of key offensive cogs ShayLee Miner and Maryn Beutler, and a system that could utilize an extra attacker at times this season.
