EUGENE -- I thought one of the highlights of last night's TrackTown Tuesday meeting at the Downtown Athletic Club was when Oregon football coach Willie Taggart took the stage.
Taggart stepped up, paused and noticed the UO women's NCAA indoor championship trophy next to his chair.
He picked it up, looked at it, held it out to the capacity crowd in the DAC ballroom and said: "We need one of these for football."
The Ducks don't have a national title in football. They last earned one in men's basketball in 1939. The UO women's program has seven indoor national championships in the last eight years.
