LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 18 ranked Oregon volleyball team put up a terrific fight in its season opener on Friday against No. 3 Texas, but the Longhorns came away with a four-set victory, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18, in the opening match of the VERT Challenge at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Ducks (0-1) were right with the Longhorns (1-0) throughout the entirety of the match, but struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities late in sets, particularly the second game in which Oregon led 21-15 before Texas closed on a 10-2 run to take a 2-0 match lead.
