EUGENE, Ore. — The inability to tack on to an early lead cost the Oregon soccer team dearly Sunday, as the Ducks dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting California before 550 fans at Papé Field.
The Ducks (7-5-1, 1-4 Pac-12) carried over some momentum from their gritty overtime loss Thursday to No. 1 Stanford, playing a strong first 20 minutes that featured Bayley Bruner's second goal of the season. But several chances to add on weren't finished, and Cal (5-7-1, 2-3) scored twice in the final 20 minutes to escape with a win.
"This one hurt," UO defender Alyssa Hinojosa said.
