LOS ANGELES, Calif. – UCLA scored four runs on just one hit in the first inning and then held off Oregon to win game one, 6-3, of the three-game series at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Thursday night.
How it happened: Control issues by Matt Krook put the Ducks in an early hole. The Ducks’ lefty hit the leadoff hitter before walking the second batter. UCLA’s Luke Persico made Krook pay with a RBI single to left field to put the Bruins on top 1-0. Krook walked the next two to make it 2-0, and then UCLA (16-18, 7-9 Pac-12) added two more on a passed ball by Slade Heggen and a RBI groundout by Trent Chatterton.
