STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon volleyball team put a scare into No. 7 Stanford early, but fell to the Cardinal in four sets Sunday night, 25-27, 25-23, 25-10, 25-16.
How it Happened: The Ducks took the first set off the Cardinal behind a fast start from freshman Lindsey Vander Weide who led the team with 17 kills while hitting .370 for the night. When the Ducks were facing set point with Stanford up 24-23, Vander Weide leveled the score with a kill to start a 3-0 run which was finished by a Marine Hall-Poirier jump serve which saw no return, a situational substitution which paid dividends.
