SEATTLE, Wash. – Gwen Svekis hit two homers, including a first-inning grand slam, and the No. 7 Ducks defeated No. 8 Washington, 11-6, to clinch the series win.
Oregon improved to 22-4 (2-0 Pac-12) with the victory while the Huskies fell to 19-5 (0-2 Pac-12) with the loss. The Ducks have won nine of the last 11 meetings and each of the last four series against the rival Huskies.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Oregon started the game with a bang, scoring six runs in the first inning. After both Jenna Lilley and Janelle Lindvall drove in runs after being hit by pitches with the bases loaded, sophomore Svekis unloaded a grand slam to clear the bases.
