After a lifeless performance in the conference opener on the road against the Beavers, the Ducks responded with an energy filled effort that netted them a 68-65 hope opening win against California. The Bears are a big talented team which had a rocky start but had found a balance and was coming in on a 5 game winning streak including a sweep of Utah and Colorado at home to open conference play.
California started with the ball, but in a portent of what was to come, Chris Boucher stole it and lined a pass to Elgin Cook, who then missed the layup.
