Ducks beat Sun Devils 11-6 in Women’s College World Series, Game 1

The 1 Seed Oregon Ducks defeated the 8 Seed Arizona State Sun Devils by a score of 11-6 in the opening game of the Women’s College World Series. The Ducks had their best offensive performance in the World Series (in the modern era) with 11 runs on 14 hits.

Miranda Elish got off to a rocky start. The second team all-american allowed a leadoff single, then with 2 outs the Sun Devils hit a two RBI homer off the bat of freshman DeNae Chatman. Flashes of Oregon’s 6-9 loss to Kentucky ran through the minds of Duck fans - a game in which the Wildcats scored a three-run homer in the first.
