Oregon senior Mitch Modin remains in the thick of the battle for the decathlon title in the Pac-12 Championships combined events, which conclude today at the Whyte Track & Field Center in Corvallis.
Modin is in second place with 3,896 points. He trails Colorado sophomore Isaiah Oliver, who exited the first day with 4,006 points and the lead.
Oliver is the son of Muhammad Oliver, a two-sport star for the Ducks and former NFL player.
Modin was second in the decathlon at last year's Pac-12 Championships and is the reigning Mountain Pacific Sports Federation champion in the indoor heptathlon.
